Fan Expectations

 

SPORTSMANSHIP STATEMENT

The three core principles of the NWAC are character, competition and community. The NWAC encourages you as a fan to enjoy the competition, cheer on the athletes and respect those involved. The NWAC asks that you refrain from swearing and derogatory remarks directed at the student-athletes, officials, coaches and other fans. Failure to adhere to this responsibility will be cause for removal. 

 

SPECTATOR EXPECTATIONS

Spectators are required to be fully clothed.

Spectators are not permitted to have artificial noisemakers. Some examples of artificial noisemakers are Thunder Stix, cowbells, clappers, and air horns. 

Spectators shall not be permitted to use vulgar/offensive or racially/culturally insensitive language. Spectators shall not be permitted to engage in any racially/culturally insensitive action.

All cheers, comments, and actions shall be in direct support of one's team. No cheers, comments or actions shall be directed at one's opponent or at the contest official(s). Some examples of inappropriate conduct or actions that are not permitted are: turning backs, holding up newspapers, etc; disrespecting players by name, number, or position; negative cheers or chants; throwing objects on the floor. 

Spectators who fail to comply with the Conference or site management spectator conduct expectations, written, expressed, or otherwise, may be removed from the event. 

 

BROADCAST RIGHTS & POLICY

The NWAC has full and exclusive authority over all internet, television broadcasting and filming connected with any NWAC post-season competition.

The NWAC office oversees all broadcasting rights of NWAC events. Except by prior written approval of NWAC, no  live radio, television, internet, or social media broadcasting is permitted at NWAC events. [Consider: Television networks may broadcast up to 45 seconds of highlights from an active game during a regularly scheduled news broadcast.]

Conversations between coaches, players, administrators, or staff members are not appropriate content for social media, blogging, or any other reporting or recording during the live play of any game. Scoring updates, periodic analysis, and time remaining is permissible content during live play of any game.

Inquiries regarding broadcasting rights policies/fees, syndication policies/fees, third-party rights policies/fees and affiliate opportunities should be directed to the NWAC office at nwacsports@clark.edu.

NOTICE: All live and archived broadcasts on the NWAC Sports Network are the exclusive property of the NWAC. Any rebroadcast, retransmission, or other use of the NWAC Sports Network broadcasts without the permission of the NWAC is prohibited.

 

DRONE/"UAV" POLICY

The use of unmanned aerial vehicles ("UAV"), also known as drones, are subject to site and event regulations. Anyone wanting to use a drone at an event must request permission to do so by the NWAC office. If necessary, event management may remove anyone attempting to use a UAV and/or confiscate the UAV until the event has completed. For purposes of this policy, a UAV is any aircraft without a human pilot aboard the device.
