Compensation: $69,485 - $83,382 per hour/year, DOE.   Excellent benefits, including retirement.  

Work Schedule: Minimum 40 hours per week, year round

SUMMARY

Provide leadership and direction for NIC intercollegiate athletics, develop strategies for program and student athlete success, and ensure compliance with all federal, association, state, and institutional policies and processes.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

This list includes but is not limited to the following: 

  • Plans, administers, and directs NIC intercollegiate athletic programs for men and women.
  • Ensures compliance with Northwest Athletic Conference (NWAC) rules and fulfills Athletic Director duties as outlined in the NWAC code book.
  • Ensures compliance with the National Junior Collegiate Athletics Association (NJCAA).
  • Acts as one of the college liaisons to the Booster Club.
  • Plans and develops strategies for generating revenues and resources for the college's athletics department as directed by the Vice President for Student Services and in collaboration with the North Idaho College Foundation.
  • Promotes public support for NIC athletic teams and events.
  • Establishes and implements athletic department goals, objectives, and operating procedures; monitors and evaluates program effectiveness including participation in program review as required.
  • Supports the coaching staff in recruiting athletes and in monitoring and nurturing their academic progress at NIC and assists with placement at four-year colleges and universities.
  • Develops and manages annual budgets for the organization and performs periodic cost analyses.
  • Approves all athletic events, and contests prior to their scheduling,
  • Prepares an annual report for the Vice President for Student Services documenting progress in meeting departmental goals, Title IX compliance, academic progress/completion rates, team records, facilities and equipment plans, budget and fiscal reports, and fund-raising success.
  • Establishes, and maintains an organizational structure and staffing to effectively accomplish the organization's goals and objectives; recruits, hires, trains, supervises, and evaluates athletic staff.
  • Follows college policy and works collaboratively with facility managers to schedule the use of college facilities and equipment for athletic related activities.
  • Represents the department to internal and external constituents including prospective student-athletes and their parents, prospective booster club members, athletic regulatory and governance bodies, college alumni, community service groups and the general public.
  • Articulates philosophy and vision for the future of intercollegiate athletics while providing student-athletes with a sense of pride and leadership.
  • Recommends and participates in the development of athletic and student athlete related policies and procedures.
  • Serves on college committees as appropriate and/ as directed. Maintains a positive, helpful, constructive attitude and work relationship with supervisor, college staff, students, and the community.
