Madariaga had a dominant start against the No. 1-ranked team in the NWAC Coaches' Poll, throwing a complete game in a 8-1 victory over Lower Columbia. Madariaga's only allowed run was unearned, as he gave up just one hit with two walks and three strikeouts. 

"It was fun watching Reid fill up the zone, he pitched to contact and let the defense work behind him," said head coach Kevin Davis. "One of the best pitching performances I've seen all season."
