Treasure Valley Names Tyler Gaston as Director of Athletics
ONTARIO, Ore. - Treasure Valley Community College has selected Tyler Gaston as its next Director of Athletics.
Gaston holds a Masters Degree in Educational Leadership from Concordia University and an Ed.S. Degree (Education Specialist) from Northwest Nazarene University. Gaston has years of experience leading a college athletics department in the NJCAA and NWAC.
He has recently served as the Principal at Challis Junior-Senior High School and Challis Elementary School, a position he currently holds in Challis, Idaho. Prior to this position, Gaston served as the Athletic Director in the NJCAA for Southeastern Community College in West Burlington, Iowa from 2017 through 2021 and the Athletic Director for Grays Harbor College in the NWAC from 2009 through 2015.
"Tyler Gaston brings experience as an athletic director within the NJCAA and NWAC, along with a good understanding of the distinctiveness of leading a community college athletics department," said Travis McFetridge, TVCC Vice President of Student Services. "To find a candidate who already has a foundation of knowledge and passion for athletics within a community college and the NWAC is exciting. He [Gaston] has an understanding of the opportunities within Chukar Athletics and a strong desire to call Treasure Valley home. TVCC looks forward to Tyler's ability to step into the position and hit the ground running."
"I am thrilled to be able to call the Treasure Valley home once again," said Gaston. "I am very appreciative for all of my past experience, but I am more appreciative for this opportunity at TVCC. It will be a welcome feeling to see my parents in the stands, donning that orange and blue, during a weekend double header. So many of my formative memories include competing in athletics throughout the Treasure Valley, including being on the campus of Treasure Valley Community College with family rooting from the stands. I cannot wait to begin this chapter of my life."
Gaston is set to step into his new role in July 2024.
