Mt. Hood's Nelson Leads All-NWAC Awards
VANCOUVER, Wash. - The Northwest Athletic Conference has announced the All-NWAC Baseball awards. The awards include 1st and 2nd team selections along with Most Valuable Player, Pitcher of the Year and Gold Glove award winners.
MVP: Jeff Nelson, Mt. Hood, Pitcher
Nelson had an outstanding year for the Saints, finishing 11-1 overall with a 1.13 earned run average. In 104 innings pitched, he had 83 strikeouts to just 21 walks. He had four complete games in 15 starts and led Mt. Hood to the championship game.
Pitcher of the Year: Seti Manase, Tacoma
Manase was also dominant this year for the Titans, recording a 9-2 record overall and a 1.69 ERA. In 74.2 innings, Manase struck out 92 batters with just 10 walks. He finished with one complete game and allowed only 51 hits.
