Tacoma Advances to Finals with 5-2 Win over Spokane

LONGVIEW, Wash. – The Tacoma Titans clinched their spot in the finals of the NWAC Baseball Championship with a 5-2 win over Spokane on Saturday at David Story Field.

The Titans scored three runs in the second and two more in the fourth to give their pitching staff all the run support they would need in a 5-2 victory. Over the nine innings, Tacoma allowed just two unearned runs.

Connor Schlect made the start as he allowed one unearned run in two innings. Tanner Douglas earned the win with one unearned run in 4.2 innings and Cho Tofte finished the game with 2.1 shutout innings for the save.

Leadoff hitter Kamana Nahaku continued his strong tournament going 2-for-3 with three RBI. Shugo Kondo went 2-for-4 with two runs scored and a run batted in.

Both Spokane runs scored without an RBI recorded, crossing the plate on a wild pitch and passed ball. Aidan Aitken threw 1.1 shutout innings in relief while Noah Lew threw two perfect innings for the Sasquatch to end the game.

The Titans clinch a spot in the NWAC Championship game on Monday automatically, but still play region rival Lower Columbia on Sunday at 4:05 p.m. If the Titans win that game, they will need to win just one of their final two games to claim the title. Spokane moves down to the loser's bracket where they take on Lane at 12:05 p.m.
