Robin Andrea Named PCC Head Women's Basketball Coach

PORTLAND, Ore. - Portland Community College has found its new women's basketball coach, as Robin Andrea has been selected to lead the Panther program for the 2024-25 season and beyond.

Andrea arrives in Portland after three years as the head coach at Yakima Valley College. Taking over a team that won just two games in a COVID shortened season, he turned the Yaks into a very competitive program. YVC qualified for the NWAC Tournament this past season with a 14-12 overall record, posting an 8-6 record in the NWAC East Region. Andrea's team was in the top 5 for scoring in the NWAC, and he coached three All-Region players including the 2022-23 region MVP.

"We are very excited to have Coach Andrea join our staff," said PCC Athletic Director Tony Broadous. "He has extensive coaching experience in the NWAC and knows the unique challenges of leading a community college program. Panther women's basketball has enjoyed recent success and I know that Robin will continue that momentum. The athletes that are part of his team will get a great experience and be supported in every way possible."

Prior to coaching the women's team at YVC Andrea was an assistant coach for three years at Linn-Benton Community College, helping the Roadrunners to a 20 win season his final year in Albany. He also spent six seasons as an assistant for the Western Oregon University women's and men's basketball programs.

"I am grateful for the opportunity to join the PCC Athletic Department," said Andrea. "Taking over for the most successful coach in PCC history is a big challenge that I look forward to. I am fully committed to being a good steward of the program and continue that success moving forward."

"Leaving Yakima to get my family closer together during this difficult time was easy because of the stakes, but incredibly difficult because of the relationships that we forged and the program that we had established. I will be forever grateful to YVC for giving me the opportunity, and I wish them the utmost success into the future."
